Regulatory Support Officer (Environmental Health)

Salary: £26,939 – £28,072 per annum
Contract type: 12 Months, fixed term contract Maternity Cover
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Regulatory Support Officer to join our Environmental Protection team in Cirencester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working both in the office and out in the field, supporting the delivery of key environmental health services that make a real difference to our communities.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll support Officers and Senior staff across a wide variety of environmental protection activities, including:
- Assisting with HMO and caravan site licence applications and inspections
- Supporting investigations into nuisance, pest control and enviro-crimes
- Conducting Private Water Supply sampling and maintaining related records
- Carrying out air quality monitoring (monthly diffusion tube replacement)
- Setting up and collecting noise monitoring equipment
- Supporting Officers with public health burials and other statutory duties
No two days are the same – you could be reviewing information, liaising with residents, or out on site inspections helping to keep West Oxfordshire a safe, healthy, and sustainable place to live.
You will need….
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) including Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and customer service skills – able to remain calm and confident in challenging situations
- Ability to manage time effectively and maintain accurate records
- Confidence with IT systems, including Microsoft and Google packages
It’s an advantage (but not essential) if you have:
- Experience working in environmental health or within a public sector setting
- Knowledge of environmental protection services
- Experience with Uniform Idox software
