We are looking for a motivated and community focused Regulatory Support Officer to join our dedicated Food Health and Safety team at Publica. This is an exciting opportunity for some with a passion for safety and hygiene.
As a Food Health and Safety Officer no two days are the same, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding public health, shaping safer communities, and helping local businesses thrive.
You will work within West Oxfordshire and have the autonomy to manage your own diary and carry out inspections and investigations in relation to food hygiene and health and safety at work.
We are committed to maintaining the best standards of food safety, hygiene and compliance therefore we need a knowledgeable and proactive individual to problem solve and help us implement continuous improvements.
In the role of Regulatory Support Officer, you will:
• Respond to service requests relating to food safety, health and safety, and Public Health
• Undertake food sampling activities in line with statutory requirements and local priorities
• Assist with and carry out enforcement interventions, such as inspections, revisits and advisory visits
During your induction you will spend most of your time in the office after which you will be able to work from home some of the time. It is likely that during an average week you will need to be in the office twice and the rest of your time would be on the district or at home.
You will need
- A minimum of 5 qualifications to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above including Maths and English.
- Knowledge and an interest in food and health and safety
- Good written and verbal skills
- Experience in assessing compliance
- Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
