As a Licensing Officer, you’ll play a key part in delivering an effective and responsive licensing service. You’ll take ownership of complex or sensitive cases, engage with customers and partners, carry out inspections, and contribute to a high-quality and compliant service.
This role can be delivered out of Witney or Cirencester.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload across licensing functions
- Investigating and enforcing licensing legislation
- Carrying out site visits and compliance checks
- Providing clear, professional advice to customers and stakeholders
- Preparing formal reports and case evidence where required
- Supporting service development and mentoring colleagues
We’re seeking someone with:
- Experience in a licensing, regulatory, or enforcement role
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A calm and confident approach in challenging situations
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- Proficiency in digital tools and case management systems
- A relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3 / A Level or equivalent) or significant related experience
You will need
- A minimum qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or A level, and/or three years relevant experience
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent to grade C/4 or higher
- Knowledge and experience in assessing complex situations and carrying out inspections if and when required
- Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging customers and environments
- Ability to resolve complex issues by negotiation
Desirable Skills
- To hold an Animal Licencing certificate
- Experience using Uniform (case management system)
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Understanding of project management
- Experience working with elected members or external partners
