We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Caseworker to join our Planning Validation Team, supporting the wider Development Management service.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring planning applications are processed efficiently and accurately, helping to maintain high standards across our service. Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will contribute to the validation of planning applications, ensuring all submissions meet the required standards before progressing through the planning system.
In this role, you will be responsible for processing and validating planning applications on behalf of our partner councils, acting as the first point of contact for routine enquiries from members of the public. You will communicate via phone, email, and other channels, providing clear and accurate information in line with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. You will also be expected to maintain accurate and confidential records, escalate complex queries where necessary, and manage your workload effectively to meet service targets. Your work will directly support the team’s goal of delivering an efficient and reliable validation service to the Development Management function.
To succeed in this role, you will have excellent customer service and communication skills, along with the ability to resolve routine issues and maintain accurate, up-to-date records. You should be confident using a range of IT systems and software, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A minimum of five qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE Grade C/4 or above (including Maths and English), or equivalent experience, is required. Previous experience in a planning or technical casework environment would be advantageous but is not essential
You will need:
- A minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2 or GCSE at Grade C/4 or above, must include Maths and English or demonstrable relevant equivalent experience
- Ability to resolve routine issues by negotiation
- Maintain accurate and up to date records
- Competent in using a range of technology and software packages.
- Excellent customer service skills
Special Conditions:
- There may be a requirement to work at other Publica Group (Support) Ltd and/or client locations to meet the needs of the business
- You will be expected to work reasonable additional hours in line with the needs of the service
- Ability to travel
